Letter to Jed: Turning one

Dear Jed,

Your Dad and I have just decorated the living room ready for your family party tomorrow and it's suddenly become very real that you will be ONE in 2 days time. I can't believe it!! I have no idea, none, not even an inkling, as to how this year has gone so quickly. I may have just shed a tear, I'm not going to lie.

I say it all the time, as I'm asked a lot whether you are always this smiley and good and i always tell people we completely lucked out with you.

We could not have hoped for a happier baby... Of course you have your moments, who doesn't, but your dial is nearly always turned to Sunny. 🌞

I often say "hello gorgeous boy" when i pick you up, it's not because i think you are a little cutie, which i do, but because i truly believe your soul is beautiful. You radiate light, yes, yes, i know that sounds corny, but just trust me on this one ok.

I've lost count of the times that complete strangers come up and say, normally when we are eating lunch, that you have been smiling at them while they've been eating or that you seem friendly and content etc. I always agree with them and say thanks, as it's nice to hear that others are seeing what we see!

You are into everything and a speedy little crawler, although I doubt that will last long as you are now pulling yourself up on everything and trying to stand on your own...ok, i'm just going to selfishly put this out there, please don't start walking when I'm back at work, i don't want to miss a single first ok! Can you do that for your Mama please?

You are starting to enjoy books more. Watching you crawl over to your books, pick one, then sit with your feet crossed and making your "I'm reading" noise (which is just an eehhhh kind of noise over and over) is very amusing.

Seeing you pick up things is also incredibly cool, when i ask you where the fish or pig is and you point it out, or when i showed you your seahorse toy and then you pointed to a tiny one in your book for the first time is a real thrill, as we've been communicating in our own way all year but when you know exactly what i said it's so exciting!

I'm not just saying this Buboo, i have had the most amazing year. I can't even remember what it was like before you came into our lives. We have shared more smiles than anyone could hope for and i don't think i have ever felt happier. I am super proud to be your mum, if you couldn't already tell from this post :-), and i hope you have had as great a first year as i have!

Love always,
Mum x
